About the project

ⵅⴻⴼ ⵓⵙⴻⵏⴼⴰⵔ

A trilingual platform for learning, documenting, and preserving the Kabyle language.

Our mission

Build the most complete, verified, and searchable Kabyle language platform in the world — fed by native speakers, assisted by AI, and protected as a sustainable asset. Preservation and sustainability must coexist: the platform must outlive any single individual, company, or funding cycle.

The story

Kabyle (Taqbaylit) is spoken by millions of people, mostly in Algeria and by a large diaspora. Despite this, the language faces serious documentation problems: vocabulary is scattered across books, PDFs, personal notes, videos, and oral tradition. Existing dictionaries are outdated, incomplete, or not searchable. Regional variation is lost. Mainstream AI models barely handle Kabyle. And if the language data is captured by a closed system, the community loses control over its own language. Apprendre Tamazight Kabyle exists to fix this — one verified word at a time.

Guiding principles

  1. 1.Human verification is non-negotiable.
  2. 2.Regional variation is a feature, not noise.
  3. 3.Language data outlives individuals. Plan for continuity.
  4. 4.AI is a tool, never an authority.
  5. 5.Contribute freely, use commercially.
  6. 6.The language belongs to its speakers — the platform protects it.
  7. 7.Small, verifiable steps. No step is skipped.
