3. Personal Pronouns

Say I, you, he, she, we, you (pl), they.

Personal pronouns allow you to designate a person without naming them. In Kabyle, they vary by gender (masculine / feminine) and number (singular / plural).

3.2. Use in a sentence

To identify someone ("to be + noun"), we use the particle d between the pronoun and the noun.

Nekk d aselmad.
I am a teacher.
Kečč d aqcic.
You are a boy.
Netta d amɣar.
He is an old man.
Nettat d taqcict.
She is a girl.

Note: the pronoun is not always mandatory. The verb already carries the person mark; we add the pronoun to insist or clarify.
